In this review, we will be looking at the 2506RBOW 90 x 1 Watt LED High Power Round Grow Light from LED Wholesalers. There are some pros and cons to using this grow light, so we will get into those so you know what you are buying. (Note that if you don’t want to read all the technical mumbo-jumbo you can head straight to the bottom where we provide our recommendation).

Generic Advantages of all LED Growing Lights

LED grow lights provide an energy efficient, artificial light source for indoor plants. Whether growing food or blooming plants, led grow lights are sure to provide a consistent source of light output without significantly increasing the cost of energy bills, creating annoying buzzing sounds, or heating up a grow room. LED grow lights are often (I’ll admit that in some situations an HID light is a better option) the best choice for the gardener who chooses to cultivate an indoor or hydroponic garden.

Overview of the 90 W QUAD UFO

Spectrum

First off, it’s called the quad because it has four wave-lengths of color: Blue, Red, Orange, and White. This is a decent setup. It’s long been known that Red and blue light are crucial for plants. About two years ago there was a movement by the experts to include orange light as well. Well, the current research I’m reading is saying that orange is no longer in. Tough break eh? In short, this light will still grow your plant, but it might not be optimized perfectly for photosynthesis.

Watts

The second thing to look at here is the watts. This is a 90X1 Watt light. This means that there are 90 LED “bulbs” in the light and each one can draw a maximum of 90 watts. Nowadays people are moving more towards three-watt LED “bulbs” instead of one watt LEDs like this one from LED Wholesalers. So for example instead of a 90X1 light, you get a 30X3 light that draws roughly the same wattage.  The reason for the move is that three watt LEDs can penetrate deeper into the plant.

LED Wholesalers 2506RBOW Review

All that being said, don’t count out this 2506RBOW UFO light, it will still work great for shorter grows. If your plant will grow over three feet tall, then start worryingJ.

Beam Angle

The beam angle on the UFO from LED Wholesalers is 120 degrees. This is good for covering a wider range of space, but bad for penetration. Again, if you have a short plant then this light will work just fine. Watch for stretching of your plants though! If they start stretching too much try moving the light a little closer.

Warranty and/or Trial Period

I’ve tried calling LED Wholesalers directly to ask them a few questions about their warranty and trial period. I haven’t heard back from them yet. At this point, I’d assume that the warranty doesn’t last very long (some customers have reported 45 days).

Heat Sink

The heat sink in LED grow lights are important because it helps the light last much longer. From what I’m hearing from customers it’s safe to say that this light is not going to last the 10 years as advertised. This is probably due to poor heat sink quality. I’d expect this light to last closer to two years (depending on how often you are using it).

2506RBOW LED Grow Lights vs Traditional Bulbs

Traditional grow bulbs not only burn hotter, creating more heat, but also use significantly more energy than the 2506RBOW led grow light, without nearly the same life span. Generally, led grow lights last a lot longer than traditional light bulbs. LED grow lights are more expensive than regular grow lights; however, when compared to how many traditional grow lights one would have to purchase to equal the cost of one led grow light, the benefits outweigh the cost. And since conserving energy is more important than ever, choosing to use a grow light that uses approximately seventy five percent less energy than a traditional bulb is as smart as it is responsible.

Conclusion

Indoor gardening with this 90W High Power Round grow light provides urban dwellers with the opportunity to cultivate and enjoy green space in an apartment or home without significant access to the sun. Choosing to grow herbs and produce with this light is a good idea.

Should You Buy this Light? Recommendation Section

If you are on budget (this light runs pretty cheap as far as LED lights go) and you are growing a short plant (under three feet), then this is a great light for you. If you are a hard-core grower who needs high yields then I’d recommend not purchasing this light.

The cheapest price I’ve seen for this light is on Amazon at around $145 with free shipping.
