DIY rDWC system
Re: DIY Aeroponics or rDWC system
Are you familiar with Mr. Murphy and his law?
kidding aside, it's gonna work. just need to figure out how many GPM's I'm gonna need from my water pump(s). I have a 600GPH and a 300 GPH. not sure if one or both are needed. first i want to put water in it and test for leaks and test the drain too.

Re: DIY Aeroponics or rDWC system
Shoot, I have my own law and a theme song to go with it:
"If anything can go wrong, it will, at the worst possible time...and frequently to me."
"Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me"
I am trying to change the theme song at least...

the old black cloud syndrome, huh?
Re: DIY Aeroponics or rDWC system
I would use the 600 for the sprayers/drip lines, and the 300 for a chiller.
I also got tired of throwing away nutes every week. Now I just top up the res, alternating food, and water each time. My plants in flower drink about 3gallons a day, so on feed day, I use half what the nute bottle recommends, to 3gallons of water. I start out between 1000-1100 ppm's, and it stays right there using this method, throughout the whole grow. Ive been doing this for several years now, and I have never had any problems. "Dont take my word for it, try it"! My nute costs went from dollars, to cents, per gram.
A chiller will be one of your biggest expenses, but IMO the most important tool in hydro. Especially in Areo systems. With a chiller you will eliminate root rot, and deficiencies. Once your res temps get above 75 degrees, your plants can only uptake about 30% of what your giving them, and above 80degrees is like 5%. (Talk about wasting nutes) At 65 degrees, you'll have the greenest plants on the block, even with a low ppm. h

ok, back to the construction. got my control tub hooked in. just need to work on my pump and line running to both totes in the grow room.
i used a 2" bulkhead fitting in the control tub. had one on hand. the other tubs use shower drains. same difference basically.

Re: DIY rDWC system
next update: system is functioning and tested. i have a 600gph pump running thru 5/8 heater hose to 2 "waterfall" outputs on 1/2 pvc. i took an end cap and drilled 8 small holes in it which gives me a nice spray very similar to the sprayer in your home sink. i'll have 2 airstones in each grow tub fed by a coralife luftpump. should give me plenty of DO in my res.
